In this article, we discuss everything you need to know about CDS 2019.

Combined Defense Services (CDS) is the examination conducted by the UPSC (Union service public commission) for recruiting the officer in the Indian armed forces.

Everything you need to know about CDS 2019

CDS 2019 online application form will be available through online mode. Candidates can fill the application form through the UPSC official website. The forms will be available in the month of November 2018 and August 2019.


CDS 2019 Exam Pattern

  • The written exam will be organized in offline mode.
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.33.
  • Total of 360 questions with 120 questions in each section – English, Mathematics and General Knowledge.
  • Note – Mathematics exam is only for male candidates.
  • Each section is provided with the time span of 2 hours.

CDS 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  • Indian Nationals are eligible.
  • Candidate must have a degree from any stream from a recognised institution. Candidates appearing in the last year of graduation can also apply.
  • Only Unmarried  male/female can apply
  • The applicant age should be below 25 years.
  • Candidates must be physically fit as per the prescribed criteria of Combined Defence Services Examination.

CDS 2019 Admit Card & Result

CDS 2019 Admit card will be available in the month of January for CDS(I) and in the month of October for CDS (II).

Take 2 printouts.

CDS written exam result for CDS I will be declared in March 2019The result can be checked online.

Candidate qualifying written exam is called for an interview by SSB (Service Selection Board). The shortlisted candidates are appointed for their respective training academies.

How to Prepare for CDS 2019

1. Stick to the Syllabus

Study the syllabus mentioned above and make efficient study time table giving every topic and subject the required time.

Keep doing your favourite things on a regular basis and take a break of 15 to 20 minutes after 2 hours of study.

2. Diet and Exercise

Physical health is really important as it is tested in the personal interview. Take the right kind of diet with oats and milk.

Do exercise at least an hour every day and make yourself fit and active.

Consult a dietician or look for different and healthy food options. Drink a lot of water.

Make salad your habit.

3. Communication and Confidence

Your communication skills must be really good. Stay aware with what’s happening around you and read newspapers and magazines on a daily basis and watch news channels. Watch English movies with subtitles.

Talk to your friends and family in English. To build up confidence try talking to yourself in front of a mirror and pay attention to your body language which may not look fake or over pretended. Read newspapers aloud.

4. Avoid Distractions

Avoid distractions like social media and make better use of the internet by browsing previous year question papers. Try solving them on your own in the time span given by the UPSC.

Solve as much as previous year question papers and sample test papers as you can. It will help you understand the pattern and will help you in completing your exam on time giving you the sufficient time to revise at the end.

Take the mock test and test your skill and knowledge.

Hard work is really required. You have to give your best for a year from now onwards. Work hard and build yourself with knowledge as well as physical health. Stay confident.
