MIT Institute of DesignMAEER’s MIT Institute of Design started working in August 2006, guided by the leading minds of that time, with a plan to develop a research & training institution of highest international quality.

In effect of one of our future goals, we at the MAEER’s MIT Institute of Design added a much more dimension in the programmes of design learning at the campus.

The concept of Design Habitat is, in fact, a logical and productive extension of our own philosophy that ensures a good atmosphere to enable design learning.

It would develop as an overarching concept around the functional framework of the Design Institute which remains an important element of the territory  AEER’s MIT Institute of Design calls application for admission to the UG & PG Programmes with the given specialization through Design Aptitude Test (DAT-2019) for the academic year 2019-20.

The MIT Institute of Design, Pune has discharged an admission notification inviting applications from interested and eligible candidates to apply for admission to its 4-year full-time Bachelor of Design (BDes).

2-year Master of Design (MDes) programmes offered in industrial design, communication design and fashion design for the academic session 2017-18.

MIT Institute of Design 2019 Eligibility criteria
Educational qualification:
BDes programme: The candidate who is interested in applying for the course must have passed class 12 from any stream (HSC, CBSE, ICSE, IB) or any other state board. Those in the final year are also eligible to apply.

MDes programme: The candidate who is interested in applying for the course must have completed graduation from any stream 10 plus 2 plus 3 (minimum) or equivalent. Those in the final year are also eligible to apply.

Selection procedure
The candidates will be selected on the following basis:
Phase 1: They will have to appear in the Design Aptitude Test (MITID-DAT)

Phase 2: On the basis of the studio test and personal interview


MIT Institute of Design 2019 Syllabus
MAEER’s MIT Institute of Design does not specify MITID DAT syllabus.

However, MITID admissions 2019 will be done considering the following abilities of candidates:

  • Analytical Skills -Ability to analyze the things, situations, and contexts.
  • Internalisation Skills -Ability to identify the essential elements of a given thing or a situation.
  • Problem Solving Skills -Ability to interpret and plan to address any given situation.
  • Observation Skills -Ability to keenly observe any given thing or situation.
  • Learning Skills -Ability to learn as opposed to bookish knowledge.
  • Curiosity -Having an urge to ask questions about things, people, situations etc.
  • Individualistic Skills -Having independent viewpoints and convictions
  • Media Skills -Ability to handle different media which a candidate may or may not be familiar.
  • General Knowledge -Being aware of what is happening in the world.
  • Communication Skills -Ability to communicate well both verbally and non-verbally
  • Team Player -Ability to function as a good team member


MIT Institute of Design 2019 Admit Card

After candidates who have successfully applied for MITID DAT exam, they will receive there admit cards for the exam on their given email IDs as per the defined schedule.

Therefore, candidates that are recommended to make sure that they have provided the correct email address at the time of MITID DAT registrations.

MITID DAT admit card will contain all important details such as candidate’s name and roll number, exam date and time of examination as well as allotted exam centre name and candidate address.

Once a candidate received their admit card, they have to take a printout of it and carry it to the allotted exam center at the time of the test. It may be noted that candidates not carrying MITID DAT 2019 admit card at the time of exam may not be allowed to appear for the test.


MIT Institute of Design 2019 Exam Pattern
MIT entrance exam is split into 2 phases:

Phase 1: Design Aptitude Test (January) is a written exam of 100 marks for 3 hours. The DAT tests each student’s ability in Design Problem Solving, Visual Sense, Observation & Perception, Environmental Awareness, Mental Ability and Communication skills through a range of visual and textual questions.

Phase 2: It consists of Studio test, Personal Interview and Portfolio presentation (April). The Studio test generally has 3 parts– doodling, 3D modeling and observation tests.
